Haiti - Security : 180 executives of the PNH trained to the respect of human rights 07/01/2013 13:36:38
Joint initiative of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and of the Minustah, the last 30 executives of the capital, have completed in December, a series of six training, organized in 6 departments of the country, which has enabled in all, to 180 executives of the PNH, to be sensitized to the respect of human rights in the exercise of their functions. "This training allows me to do my job better while respecting the rights of citizens," declared the officer Joane Charles, who took part in the final stage of the training, in Port-au-Prince. Like her, his colleague Luc Chaponneau estimated that "such training is an asset, since it will allow me to improve myself and do my job better in the respect of human rights." 8 trainers, including 6 of the Minustah and 2 of the PNH, were mobilized to provide training to 180 executives of teh PNH, men and women installed "to positions of responsibility and in a position to make use of force," explained Michel-Ange Gédéon, Departmental Director of the West (DDO) of the PNH. Patrick Pélissier, Officer Human Rights in the Minustah, stressed that "this training was focused on different themes, of sexual assault in the management of crowds." "The concept of human rights is crucial in society and in the daily work of police officers," estimated for his part the Inspector Jean Miguélite Maximé, Director of the Police Academy.
