Some details to remember on the priority areas selected for the period considered: Artificial intelligence and financial inclusion (FinTech): The study of obstacles and opportunities linked to the sector; the identification of levers at the level of artificial intelligence that can accelerate the Fintech ecosystem, with a view, in particular, to reducing the digital divide, encouraging the development of electronic payment platforms, and leading to broader financial inclusion. Highlight the real potential of the Fintech sector, consumer expectations, regulations for the protection of transactions. Public safety: Economic and social costs linked to security constraints on production activities, wealth creation, mobility of factors, retention of executives in the country. Study of the phenomenon of violence in Haiti, according to a sociological and psychological approach. Identify the issues for access to education. Agriculture: Identification and understanding of challenges, issues and opportunities in agricultural production; the development and promotion of one or more agricultural sectors as well as sources of financing and support, both internal (public and private) and external, including insurance and guarantee funds. Strategies for leveraging or better integrating human capital in the sector. Climate change: Measurement of the impact of climate change on the country or on targeted localities; the identification of prevention policies, risk mitigation or adaptation measures. Appropriation by development actors, implementation and potential impact of the national climate change adaptation plan. Analysis of the actions of different sectors with regard to international dynamics. Lessons learned and challenges to identify. Waste management (junk): Problems of waste production and management in both urban and rural areas. The economic opportunities linked to the transformation of different types of waste, as well as the positive impacts on the environment and the living conditions of households. Analysis of interventions carried out and in progress. What lessons and good practices have been developed? What are the challenges posed by the current crisis on achieving objectives in this area and on services to targeted populations? Come up with proposals aimed at mitigating them. Traditional medicine: Study of existing medicinal plants in the country; the economic opportunities they represent, as well as their use in the treatment of pathological elements, with a view to improving the health conditions of the population. Strategies for developing professional skills in the sector for its full contribution to improving health, especially in rural areas. SMEs and Economic Development: Problems of SMEs in Haiti and their identification as a vector of growth and job creation; the challenges and opportunities, the financing structure and the analysis of obstacles linked to the development of the sector. Identification of regional growth and economic development poles, including production mechanisms (goods & services). Analysis of the level of formalization of MSMEs, implication of the informal nature of certain SMEs for access to sources of financing. Highlight the adaptation of tax legislation, the economic structure, the real contribution to the economy in terms of job creation and participation in the productive system. Identify proposals for better financial integration of these companies. Note: The BRH strongly encourages project leaders to take into account the principle of gender equality in research work, whatever the field of study. Projects should consider the gender issue in Haiti, its impact on economic growth, the reduction of inequalities, financial inclusion and the promotion of family values.
