Thursday at Santo 25, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied of deputies Jean Willer Jean (Croix-des-Bouquets) and Jean Wilson Hippolyte (Léogâne), visited the SHAISA tomato agro-industrial processing plant, to evaluate on the one hand, the infrastructure and the production capacity of the company and, on the other hand, to support efforts to revive national production.

After a guided tour of the premises, he addressed the factory workers "My presence in this processing plant is part of my vision of a self-sufficient Haiti in terms of food. Job creation is an essential step in the recovery process of the national economy and the job creation it's not possible outside the reviving of the domestic production."

While expressing his ambition to make this plant one of the most modern in the Caribbean, President Moïse said he hopes to build on a public-private partnership to strengthen the agricultural sector and offer new business opportunities likely to value the agricultural production areas of the country.

Georges Cassis, SHAISA's Chief Executive Officer, warmly thanked President Moïse for his commitment to strengthen the country's agribusiness community and said he wants to work with the government to expand the plant's production base and be more efficient on the ground.
