After passing through a pro-government demonstration in which protesters chanted as they passed "Men lame a" military found themselves at the Capois street face of the opposition demonstrators who were throwing stones at them.

While these soldiers roamed the city center, a crowd of protesters lynched a man to death with stones. The victim identified as Raphael Cicero Nero, wearing military style clothing and protesters accused him of being a member of the dissolved army in 1995.

However, a few hours after this tragic incident, the Ministry of Defense has denied the belonging of the victim to the former armed forces of Haiti and declared "The Ministry of Defense informs all those concerned that the Citizen Raphaël Néro Ciceron, 78 years old murdered at Champ de mars, riday, February 5, 2016, because of his attire, appears nowhere in the records of Demobilized Soldiers Management Office (BGMO)."
