For several weeks, the Defense National Network of Human Rights (RNDDH) notes with dismay, an increase in acts of violence, especially during anti-government protests.

These aggressions orchestrated against members of the population who do not participate in the demonstrations, are characterized by looting, theft, breakage of the windshield and the burning of several vehicles of individuals and of the state. Recall that for the single day of 22 January 2015, at least five vehicles were damaged https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13015-haiti-politic-a-peaceful-protest-rather-violent.html and bystanders complained of having lost their personal effects, including mobile phones.

Furthermore, on 17 and 20 January 2015, the premises of the political party "Fusion of Social Democrats" located in Christ-Roi, have been the target of unidentified individuals who threw stones and made use of firearms in the direction of the latter.

RNDDH condemns these acts committed during anti-government protests and believes that this atmosphere of violence, that develops gradually in the country can not in any case be accepted in a society based on democratic rule of law and reminds all that the right to peaceful protest is guaranteed by the Haitian Constitution in force. However, the protesters should not harm others.
