Haiti - Japan : Call for Applications, MEXT Scholarship Program 02/06/2026 10:15:20
The Embassy of Japan in Haiti announces the launch of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Research Scholarship for the 2027-2028 academic year. This scholarship program is for Haitian students wishing to pursue Master's or Doctoral studies or undertake research at Japanese universities. These scholarships aim to strengthen academic and scientific exchanges between Japan and Haiti, to train highly qualified human resources, and to contribute to the development of both countries and the international community. The MEXT Research Scholarship is intended for candidates who have already completed at least a Bachelor's or Master's degree before their departure for Japan. For non-Japanese speakers, studies are conducted in English, with the possibility of learning Japanese. Eligibility Requirements : • Be of Haitian nationality; • Be under 35 years of age (born on or after April 2, 1992); • Hold a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or equivalent qualification recognized by the host Japanese university; • Have a good command of English. APPLICATION PROCEDURE : Applicants are encouraged to consult the Application Guidelines and download the required forms. Detailed criteria, application documents to download, and Application Guidelines are available on the official website of the Embassy of Japan in Haiti at the following address : https://www.ht.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_ja/11_000001_00254.html Application Deadline: June 12, 2026 Applications must be submitted electronically to culture@ht.mofa.go.jp or delivered in person to the Embassy of Japan in Haiti (2nd floor, Hexagone Building, corner of Clerveaux and Darguin streets, Pétion-ville). Selection Process : - Mid-June: Shortlisting based on application and contacting of shortlisted candidates; - End of June: Written English and Japanese language exam; - Early July: Interview at the Embassy Timeline for recommended candidates : - Early July: Contacting selected Japanese universities - Late August: Deadline for obtaining acceptance letters - April or September 2027: Start of academic stay in Japan IMPORTANT NOTE : All documents written in French (except for the CV, passport, and language certificate) must be accompanied by a true translation into English or Japanese.
