Haiti - Social : The FAO denies and recommends caution

It has been brought to the attention of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) that malicious people pretending to be employees of the institution or other technical and financial partners of the Organization, contact members of the population by telephone claiming to carry out an investigation in order to provide them with assistance. These individuals extract personal information from the people approached and would even carry out telephone refills for their victims, perhaps to put them in confidence.

The FAO would like to inform the general public that this process does not in any way correspond to the working methods of the institution. It invites people who receive these calls for information requests to exercise the utmost caution and above all not to communicate their personal information.

The Organization also wishes to emphasize that it is a specialized agency of the United Nations, present in Haiti since 1978, which supports the Government and the Haitian population through technical cooperation in the field of agricultural development policies and strategies, improving household food security and resilience in the face of food crises, natural disasters and climate change.
