The footballer Mikaël Silvestre, former French international of Guadeloupean origin currently playing within the Werder Brême, should visit Haiti this month to inaugurate a vocational training center located in Croix-des-Bouquets.

This project was funded by an auction, and with the help of his former partners of Arsenal, Chelsea players and his personal contribution. This project amounting to €170.000 has allowed to create this school in Haiti, the first promotion is composed of 60 young girls and boys aged 14 to 18 years, who are learning carpentry, plumbing and electricity.

"The goal is to tell them that we need them, that the country needs them, because foreign aid is coming but now, we really put the tools in their hands for the reconstruction of their country, by forming them with various trades" explains Mikaël Silvestre.

Mr. Silvestre has already made ​​similar centers in Guinea, Niger, Laos and Senegal with the support that he has received from UNESCO since 2005. "I try to give back a little of what I received in my childhood because I had the chance to attend school, learn to read, write and at the same time to be trained to football..." concludes the footballer.
