Haiti - Education : Non-Formal Education Policy Outreach Tour

More than a month after the adoption of the document Non-Formal Education Policy https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27298-haiti-education-the-country-adopts-a-policy-of-non-formal-education-after-an-11-year-process.html , the members of the Working Group on Non-Formal Education of the "Ad hoc" Monitoring Committee and senior staff the Directorate General and several technical directorates are on a tour of popularization it in the various Departmental Directorates of Education (DDE) of the country, with educational agents and partners in the field.

The main purpose is to present the document, explain the foundation, issues and challenges for the implementation of the Non-Formal Education Policy, while explaining to the audience with statistics and examples the problem of non-formal education (poverty, loss of education, non-access...) The views of the participants are also gathered during this tour for the implementation plan to be developed. Recall for the benefit of our readers that Non-Formal Education is an addition, an alternative and/or a complement to formal education in the lifelong learning process.

During his stay in Les Cayes, 64 education professionals from several communes of the South Department (Head of Evening Centers, Family Education Centers, inspectors, heads of public and non-public organizations...) participated in a workshop focused on the popularization of the Non Formal Education Policy.

Jean-Claude Bernard, Assistant to the Departmental Director, in launching the activity, emphasized the importance of non-formal education and the need to have a different perspective on this aspect of the education system. Illustrating their point of view, some participants presented examples from their professional experiences.
