Haiti - Diaspora : 11th Edition of the Haitian Book Day

On August 18, starting at 11:00 am, discover the Haitian Book Day programming at the NA Rive Center located at 6.971 Saint-Denis Street (Montreal), which will put Haiti in the spotlight this year, its history and its female voices. For the event, more than 30 authors and more than 20 publishing houses are opening the doors of Haiti.

This year, to answer your questions, the NA Rive Center offers you a feminine and inter-generation duo with the young author Martine Fidèle, Director of the collective "Écorchés vivantes" (Edition Mémoire d'encrier) and Denyse Côté who will present a new a book she co-directed "Déjouer le silence" (Édition Remue Ménage). Come talk with them about Haitian women...

The highlights of the day :

  • Roundtable "Women of Haiti" led by Emeline Pierre with Martine Fidèle, Denyse Côté, Stéphane Martelly and Jan J. Dominique ;

  • Round table "Haiti from yesterday to today" animated by Mozart Longuefosse with Valéry Daudier and Fred Doura ;

  • Lauch of the collective of the Editions of CIDIHCA under the theme of history with Jean Marie Bourjolly, Rachel Price Vorbe, Joubert Satyre, Roland Paret, Claude Dauphin, Robert Berrouet-Oriol, Nestor Fils-Aime and Edgar Gousse.

During the day you can get a hundred titles written by women. In addition, come and participate in the literary and artistic quilt with Maguy Métellus and taste flavors of Haiti at Bistro Bouk'entrain before ending this day in style with a musical and literary cocktail !

As a prelude to the festivities of the 45th anniversary of Center N A Rive, come and celebrate as part of a musical and literary cocktail party featuring the melodies of Quebec professional pianist Daniel Lessard. The final bouquet will also make room for the next generation of women with interventions by the poet Josianne Menard, Gabriella Kinté of the Racines Bookstore and Martine Fidèle, Director of the "Écorchés vivantes" collective.
