Haiti - Festi-Graffiti 2018 : 3rd Edition of the International Festival of Urban Arts

The 3rd Edition of the International Festival of Urban Arts of Port-au-Prince, Festi-Graffiti will take place from July 10 to 17, 2018 around the theme "Reinventing public space". On the program: dozens of artistic interventions (graffiti, stencil, wall art, urban signage...) in five neighborhoods, boulevards and avenues of Port-au-Prince (Bas peu de chose, Place Sainte Anne, Boulevard Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Bel Air, Bicentenaire), in Cité Soleil and Pétion-ville; walking tours, 3 outdoor film screenings, conferences-debates, festive evenings (Place Jérémie, Canapé vert, Place Sainte Anne, Wharf Cité Soleil) are also planned.

The artists will come from Haiti, Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Canada, France, the Dominican Republic and Guadeloupe.

The Collective for the Promotion of Urban Arts and Contemporary Art is an association of Port au Prince dedicated to street art and the development of art and design in the public space. Festigraffiti, proposal of the Collective, is at the same time a showcase of the graphic and visual Haitian creation in the street, a space of expression and artistic mediation for the youngest ones through drawing workshops, graffiti and urban dances, and a meeting place for Haitian, Caribbean and other world artists.

Activities at FOKAL :

July 11-12:

Workshops in urban dances with Fabien Edmond of Guadeloupe, Let's dance and Break mannyak. Target audience: break dance dancers.

Open to the public.

July 13th:

Conference - What's a desirable future for Port au Prince?

What could the public space of tomorrow look like? What would a city dream come true? A rebuild screw by screws as suggested by singer Herby François, a city that is truly livable, ecological, friendly, intelligent and connected, creative and attractive, of trade and business, cultural tourism? A city that would not be like any other in the Caribbean and the world...

How to change the course of things, that the public space is considered by all as public good, equally beneficial to all? What do the creators, artists and other artisans, urban art makers, think?

Speakers: Phillipe Bon and his guests

Saturday 14th July: Talk with street artists
