Haiti - Education : Training of executives on results-based management

Sunday at the Hotel Royal Decameron (Côte-des-Arcardins), Meniol Jeune, the Director General of the Ministry of National Education, has launched a training seminar which will end on April 19 for the benefit of the technical directors, the departmental directors and other senior staff of the Ministry, focusing on management in general and more specifically on results-based management.

This seminar is intended, among other things, to strengthen the knowledge and skills of technical directors and departmental directors in applying results-based management.

For the Director Jeune, this training demonstrates the Ministry's willingness to divorce with old practices in order to meet the requirements of the new Government. For Jeune, that considering numerous the challenges in the education sector, this training should lead to program and project strategies focused on performance and effective results, opposed to traditional approaches focused on tracking activities, resources and services.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Karl Rood Fleurant, head of the Training and Development Directorate, emphasized that transparency is now a requirement of all democratic societies. He also drew attention to the new public management which insists on a much stricter control of public expenditure and on a better use of budgetary resources.

In her intervention, the Inspector General, Carolde Alliance, stressed the need to focus on this results-based management approach "which is a clear consensus to allow the adoption of strategies that can serve as frameworks to address structural weaknesses in the education sector."
