Haiti - Jacmel : Preparations for the 9th Edition of the Festikap Kite Festival

The preparations for the 9th edition of the Festikap in the commune of the Vallée de Jacmel, which will take place on January 2, 2018, are well underway. This Festival, initiated by the Organization of Young Valley University Students for Progress (Organisation des Jeunes Universitaires Valléens pour le Progrès - OUVAP) that celebrates traditions that are lost, through the production and rise of kites, has become a must-attend annual event for kite fans and nostalgic people.

During a press conference, Berthony Boursiquot, the General Secretary of the OUVAP, said that the Kite Festival, which brings together thousands of participants every year, will be an opportunity, once again, to promote Haitian culture, including some traditional games endangered, recalling "It is also an activity of socialization, which aims to allow people of all generations children, young adults and seniors to reconnect with some ancient traditions."

As part of the Festikap, the young artist Anderson Langlois aka "Zayiti", a native of the region, present at this conference, confirmed his participation and took the opportunity to present his demo called "yon lòt R", a music that invites all the Haitians to work together so that the country can know a new air and take the rails of development.

Calixte Wilbert, the vice president of the OUVAP, thanked the contribution of the Haitian popular artist, Jean Belony Murat alias (BélO) who this year, has deployed many efforts for the realization of the music "Ayiti pran kap ou" and who will perform during the Festival, invited visitors to participate in large numbers at one of the most popular events organized in the Vallée de Jacmel
