Haiti - Sports : Inauguration of St. Therese Park

Sunday, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, proceeded in the presence of Ms. Magalie Racine, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action and representatives of football clubs and players at the inauguration of St. Therese Park of Petion-ville, freshly renovated.

This new modern sports area, with a capacity of 2,700 seats, includes a land of 90m by 96.30m, a shop, rooms for players and referees, a conference room, a snack bar, and all the amenities.

In his speech, the Minister of Youth, welcomed the initiative and commitment of "Foutbòl pou Chanjman" in the establishment of sports facilities for young people of 10 departments of the country. While asking to young people not to be manipulated, Ms. Racine stressed the need for them to have a good education and a good civic and sporting education.

For its part, the Head of State stated that the rehabilitation of Sainte Therese Park is another testament to the commitment of his administration to continue to move towards reconstruction and expectations of the Haitian people.

The President Martelly for whom the maintenance of a climate of stability is essential for the reconstruction of the country and the implementation of major development sites urged the population to remain calm and to the participation in the collective interest.
