Wednesday, the Departmental Directorate of Tourism South East and IBI/DAA [specializing in urban planning and urban and regional development], met the Mayor of Jacmel, Mr. Adonis Noé.

It was particularly question of discussions, that were initiated with the owners of the rue du Commerce who have expressed the desire, that the Government carries out works to facelift the facades of selected parcels. An agreement between the parties will specify the responsibilities of the partners and their rights, obligations and provisions under which the parties will work together to achieve this process.

For cleaning activities of the priority perimeter defined by the Ministry it was agreed :

• Achieve a "punch" operation against waste in the area concerned ;

• Awareness and support citizens in their efforts to improve the cleanliness of streets ;

• Strengthen partnership and consultation between the mayor, regional institutions and organized groups of civil society in cleanliness.

A major communication campaign will be conducted for the duration of the program "A cleaner city, it is the responsibility of ALL !"

Discussions with the mayor confirmed his willingness to revolutionize waste management in the historic center and the city of Jacmel. The mayor wishes that the Ministry of Tourism and Town Hall partners, accompany him not only in the construction of a sanitary landfill, but also in the acquisition of street sweepers and vacuum waste thermal and electrical.
