Haiti - Politic : The Ambassador of France met with the Minister of Social Affairs

The Ambassador of France accredited to Port-au-Prince, Patrick Nicoloso at the head of a delegation composed of Thierry Fraysse, Head of Mission of the International Adoption at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris and Dr. Frédérique Delatour, Health Advisor for the Mission of the International Adoption paid a visit to Charles Jean Jacques, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST).

The Minister and the Ambassador held discussions on topics of prime importance include: the implementation of the new law on adoption in accordance with the Vienna Convention adopted in 2012 by Haiti ; support of the French Cooperation to strengthen the Institute of Social Welfare (IBESR) ; the Programme of Assistance to Children of MAST ; the perspective of creation of a multidisciplinary cell to IBESR ; the prioritization by the MAST of problem of street children and the fight against extreme poverty in close relation with the Government's social policy.

With he full support of the "Friends of Haiti Country", particularly of France in the Government's efforts to implement its various social programs to ther benefit of most vulnerable populations, Minister Jean Jacques pleaded for the continuation of the Franco-Haitian cooperation whose tangible benefits are well established.

For his part, Ambassador Nicolosso, did not hide his appreciation for the importance given by the MAST to a range of social issues to which France remains particularly sensitive and, is committed to continue the cooperation programs at the level of the Embassy to support the MAST in the implementation of the social policy of the Haitian Government.
