Haiti - Culture : The singer Jean Michel Daudier passed away

"The Consulate of the Republic of Haiti in Orlando learned with sorrow the sad news of the sudden death of the singer-songwriter of Haiti, Jean Michel Daudier, occurred Monday, October 14, 2013. This artist which has marked the passing of a political era to another, will remain engraved in the memory of those who knew him. During his lifetime, he participated in several cultural activities organized by the Consulate. The Consulate of the Republic of Haiti in Orlando bowed to the remains of this great man and extends its sincere condolences to the families, friends and allies affected by this loss."

Born in 1957, from the city of Les Cayes in southern Haiti, Jean Michel lived in the U.S. since 1989, where he continued his career. He became famous in 1986 after writing a protest song called "Lèm pa wè soley la" (When you can not see the sun) for the Catholic radio station Radio Soleil, hich supported the fight against the former dictator Baby Doc. Just before passed away, Jean-Michel, worked on the realization of a new jazzy album.
