Haiti - Security : UDMO wounded a gunman at Curtis

Gypson Cerame, a member of a group of armed individuals, self-proclaimed "the rebels" who spread terror in the National #2 and in the the population of Petit-Goâve, since early September was hit by a bullet in the abdomen by the agents of the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO) on the National Road #2 at Curtis.

Initially, rumors suggested that this individual had succumbed to his injury but according to the latest available information, he is still alive and treated clandestinely somewhere in the mountains.

Friday night in the show "Popular Tribune" of Radio Préférence FM, Hervé Cerame, the cousin of Gypson Cerame and spokesman for the family, spoke by phone to the rubrique "Friday of problems" to say that Cerame family, had never supported the choices and actions of Gypson Cerame "The Cerame family is not concerned by the acts of Gypson Cerame. It has nothing to do with it [...] he chose his path but Cerame family is innocent. I do not want that it undergo reprisals of police officers and abuse of justice. If Gypson Cerame die, it will not affect us, it will have deserved because he dishonored the family..."

Moreover, Hervé Cerame declared "all the households in Curtis live in a situation of stress and fear [...] They do not move from their home, they can not go about their business [...] The families of Curtis had enough of the situation of imprisonment in which they find themselves today. They now want peace [...] Peace for now, is their main claim. They want to regain peace of mind, send their children to school and resume their daily activities," while demanding the release of innocent detainees, he indicated in conclusion that the police were more or less flexible in respect of individuals, to whom he asked to disarm.
