Haiti - Social : Inauguration of the Public Library of Bel-Air

Friday, Volmy Fils Desrameaux, the Director General of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST), accompanied by Mrs. Amy Patanasinta, manager of subsidies and contracts for the Haiti Project "Recovery Initiative" (HRI) of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has proceeded to the inauguration of a public library in the popular neighborhood of Bel Air.

According to Mr. Desrameaux this library, formed of a documentary fund of 4,000 books, is for young people of Bel-Air and surrounding areas, wishing to conduct research to deepen their knowledge in various fields.

"My words pivot on the framework of cooperation initiated between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST) and USAID. This framework goes beyond the opening of the library, because it covered various social projects between the two partners in disadvantaged areas [...]" said the Director General of MAST who transmitted to the youth of Bel-Air and its surroundings, a message of brotherhood and solidarity of Charles Jean Jacques, Minister of Social Affairs. According to him, the public library that the MAST will apply to build, is the crucible of great ideas on science, technology and vocational training.

Mme Amy Patanasinta, explained that "the HRI Project is a series of projects initiated with the MAST after the January 2010 earthquake. He focused in particular on St Marc, Cap Haitien and different towns of Port-au-Prince, whose Martissant and Bel Air [...] the displacement of accommodation camps and rehabilitation of Vincent Gymnasium were the main areas of intervention" ensuring the population of the active presence of the USAID in Haiti, despite the fact that the HRI comes to its end.
