Haiti - Health : Inauguration of the Cholera Treatment Center, of Ouanaminthe
This week the Minustah proceeded to the inauguration of the new Cholera Treatment Center (CTC) in Ouanaminthe, 20 km from Fort Liberté, which will allow a better management and care of patients in the Department of North East.
This new Center, funded by the Minustah within the framework of its quick impact projects (QIPs) to the tune of about U.S. $100,000 is composed of two treatment rooms (man and woman) with a capacity of 10 beds, two toilet blocks, a pavilion for the nursing staff, administrative offices and a storage depot and was built by a Haitian company.
For Sandra Honoré, Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Haiti and Head of MINUSTAH who chaired the ceremony, the inauguration of this project shows that "we continue to advance in order to save lives and to see our collective efforts decrease significantly the infection rates and mortality."
