Haiti - Economy : Minister Laleau met the delegation of TCI

Monday , Wilson Laleau, acting Minister of Trade and Industry, met at the Ministry a delegation of a dozen investors and officials from Turkey and Caicos Islands (TCI), in visit for several days in Haiti [9 to August 13, 2013]. Led by Washington Misick, the Minister of Finance, Investment and Trade of Turk and Caicos Islands, this delegation came to explore business opportunities in Haiti.

Coordinated by Ms. Margarette Lemaire, Consul of Haiti to TCI and delegated to the commercial and cultural affairs, this prospecting mission began with a tour of Cap-Haitien, with the Haitian private sector, tourism professionals and Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, then continued with a visit to the Caracol Industrial Park, before returning to Port-au-Prince to provide an update on the business opportunities in Haiti, as well as the economic and business environment of the country.

"This delegation visit Haiti in order to structure exchanges in order to invest in various fields, such as agriculture, construction, fishing, farming, finance and tourism," said Mme Lemaire recalling that during his last trip to the TCI, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, did not hide his admiration for tourism as it developed in these islands, as well as economic development, resulting.

During discussions with the Minister Laleau, several members of the delegation of the TCI, have expressed their willingness to invest in agriculture, among others. Wilson Laleau, assured the delegation members, that the Government of Haiti, still working to make it easier investment in Haiti as part of its opening for business.
