Haiti - Politic : Scholarship Program «Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship»

Last week, the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince and the Government of Haiti announced the arrival in Haiti in September of 3 U.S. Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship from the United States who will be assigned to collaborate with their Haitian counterparts for 10 months in three Haitian Government ministries. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today at the U.S. Embassy by Michael Macy, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy, and Uder Antoine, General Coordinator of the Office of Management and Human Resources of the Prime Minister.

The Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship Program provides opportunities for U.S. citizens to conduct post-graduate research while working at a foreign public sector entity. The program is designed to provide unique overseas research opportunities for participants while simultaneously offering new skills and experience to foreign government ministries.

The Fulbright-Clinton Fellows hold a Master’s degree or are PhD students in areas of interest applicable to public policy. They have relevant work experience in public policy in areas including, but not limited to, Public Health, Education, Agriculture, Justice, Energy, Environment, Public Finance, Economic Development, Information Technology and Communication; and have mastered the language that will allow them to excel in their positions. The placement of these Fellows aligns with their qualifications and the needs of the host country.

In addition, two Fulbright Scholars will be assigned to two public/private institutions: Interuniversity Institute for Research and Development (INURED) and Centre for Training and Coaching Technique (CFET).

This latest collaboration between the U.S. Embassy and the Government of Haiti highlights ongoing mutual cooperation and the efforts of the United States to assist the Government of Haiti in its aim to enhance the effectiveness of its public institutions and to promote the long-term stability and development of Haiti.
