Haiti - Politic : Sandra Honoré met Pierre Richard Casimir

Wednesday, Chancellor Pierre Richard Casimir received the courtesy visit of Sandra Honoré, the new Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations.

The visit was part of the inauguration of Ms. Honoré. During the exchange between the two officials, the Chancellor Casimir reported the concerns and expectations of the Haitian Government in relation to the presence and operation of the UN mission in Haiti.

Discussions focused on the following points :

  • The improvement of communication between the Minustah and the Government ;

  • The gradual withdrawal of members of the Mission ;

  • The problem of cholera and its various implications ;

  • The necessity for the Minsutah contingents that arrive in Haiti to submit a comprehensive report on their health status ;

  • The evolution of the electoral process in Haiti.

The Special Representative of the United Nations in Haiti acknowledged the efforts made ​​by President Martelly and Prime Minister Lamothe for the reconstruction of the country and pledged her support to all components of the Nation, in order to contribute to the development and the establishment of the rule of law in Haiti.
