Haiti - Diplomacy : First words of the new Ambassador of France in Haiti

A week after his arrival in Haiti [23 June 2013], after handing his credentials to President Martelly, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Haiti, Mr. Patrick Nicoloso declared :

"While I just handed my credentials to the President of the Republic, I want to tell you the honor and joy that I have to represent France in Haiti.

France and Haiti are united by strong historical, cultural and human ties. Sometimes complex relationships but who are the wealth of our long relationship and which explain the special place occupied by Haiti in the heart of the French.

I wish, as Ambassador of France in Haiti, deepen this relationship, make it live throughout the country, closer of the Haitians. In this so warm welcome land, I know that we can, my wife and I, rely on many good willingness to enrich our special relationship.

Dear friends Haitians, we are French and Creole in sharing, but not only. it is important for us to discover your country and culture to better serve our two countries.

[...]

I also have a thought for the Haitian community in France, dynamic and in constant interaction with Haiti. It is also thanks to it that Haiti lives in France and France in Haiti [...]"

Let us hope that the opposite of his predecessor Didier LeBret, the new Ambassador of France, will remain within the limits of its diplomatic responsibilities and does not interfere in the political and business decisions of our country...
