Haiti - Security : 18th anniversary of the PNH
Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the Police Academy, President Michel Martelly, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe Salvador, members of government, representatives of the Parliament, of judicial authorities, members of the Major State, of agents of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), the diplomatic and consular corps and organizations defending human rights, participated in the official ceremony of the 18th anniversary of the PNH.

The Head of State congratulated the Haitian National Police for their efforts in the fight against crime "The efforts made by the PNH and the dedication it demonstrated helped curb in reassuring proportions the ntisocial outbursts of criminal circles [...] I never cease to affirm that the National Police of Haiti is one of the essential pillars on which is based the establishment of the rule of law that I intend establish in the country."

Recalling the mission of the PNH which is to protect and serve, the Head of State is committed to provide the necessary means to carry out its task.



The Prime Minister, in his capacity as Chairman of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) while recognizing the difficult conditions and the limited means available to the police thanked the officers for their contribution and sacrifice to the maintenance of the stabilization of country "[...] Thank you for the sacrifices you make daily to allow citizens to freely go about their occupation [...]"

Speech of Prime Minister:


For his part, Godson Aurélus, Director General of the National Police, mentioned in his speech, the long way traversed in the past 18 years "I remember the time of the creation, in 1995, the PNH was in a difficult situation. But in 18 years, despite the tough times we've been through [...] the institution has matured [...] we won the battle from the perspective of the law, because everything we do is based on legal principles."
