Haiti - Tourism : Creation of the Northern Haiti Tourism Coalition

Wednesday, Stéphanie Balmir Villedouin, the Minister of Tourism went to New York to proceed to the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism Care, the Tourism Association of Haiti (ATH) and the Clinton Foundation. Through this initiative, the partners intend to create the Northern Haiti Tourism Coalition.

This agreement will allow the strengthening of a joint cooperation in the field of tourism and will help the Ministry of Tourism to develop tourism circuits in the country. It will contribute to positive change in the image of Haiti, and will constitute a means of promote tourism for a improvement of life of the Haitian people. In addition, members of this new coalition agreed, among other, to work in the improvement of excursions at National Historical Park and to get involved in the training of guides and agents in the tourism sector.

Since 1999, subsidies were given to 181 organizations in 42 states and 31 countries. The organization participated in the development of tourism in Machu Picchu (Peru), former Inca site dating from the 15th century. The mission of Tourism Care is to preserve the travel experience for future generations.
