Haiti - Politic : Extraordinary Assembly and Convocation of the Prime Minister Postponed

Following the postponement of the date of convocation of the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe originally scheduled on Tuesday 28 May, the convocation at the extraordinary of the Parliament by the President Martelly, scheduled the same day had to be also postponed because of the threat of senators of the opposition, which in retaliation, intended to boycott this convocation at the extraordinary, of the Head of State.

Jean Tholbert Alexis, President of the Lower House and Vice-President of the National Assembly confirmed that the National Assembly at the extraordinary has been postponed to June 3 and that he had himself signed the convocation on Monday in the absence of the President of the National Assembly, the Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras.

As for the Senate hearing of the Prime Minister, it will be held on 31 May 2013. The Senator Steven Benoit deplores this situation and considers that the majority of his colleagues are accomplices of the Prime Minister, stating that the Head of Government "knows that there is not a majority at the level of the Upper House that can sanction his government. That is why it gives no weight to the invitations of parliamentarians who seek to fulfill their supervisory duties."
