Haiti - Sports : Sports Camp in the USA for 12 young Haitians with disabilities

The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince has informed us that 12 young Haitians with disabilities accompanied by six teachers, will travel for the United States on May 24 to participate in a sports camp specially designed for disabled athletes in Warm Springs, Georgia. The program is organized in cooperation with the Blaze Sports summer sport camp program.

This initiativeaims to promote mutual understanding between Haitians and Americans and to train physically challenged athletes in the basics of sports including track and field, swimming, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis while exposing the participants to a variety of recreational sport options, and cultural awareness.

During a meeting, Ms. Pamela Kefi of US Agency for International Development (USAID) shared her experience working with kids with special needs and encouraged them to take advantage of this great program.

Through this activity, the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince reinforces its commitment to equity, inclusion and the application of interdisciplinary, evidence-based practice to foster a culture of innovation and efficacy while promoting mutual understanding between the Haitian and American people.

We would like to wish them a bon voyage as Ambassadors of Haiti during their stay in the U.S.
