Haiti - Culture : Exhibition of 11 Haitian artisans in Brasilia

Approximately 200 people attended this week in the Brazilian capital, at the opening ceremony of the Haitian popular art exhibition "Arte Popular do Haiti" which runs from May 14 to 19 at the "Mezanino do Foyer do Teatro Nacional" of Brasilia (Free admission).

This exhibition, which has about thousands of products, is the first of a series of cultural activities of the Embassy of Haiti in Brazil, aimed at make known our country under its best image. It also responds to the desire of the President Martelly, to promote the richness and diversity of the talents of our artists and artisans by providing them the opportunity to exhibit their products.

Phelicia Dell (embroidered fabrics)

Ronald Laratte (stone carving)

Josiane C. Pailliere (embroidery)

V. Gerry. Romain (jewelry)

Jean-Paul Sylvaince (modeling in tobacco leaves / paper mache)

This exhibition that focuses historical traditional values, past and present, in respect for the sanctity, offers Brazilian public the opportunity to make a dip in our Afro-Caribbean cultural universe and enjoy this event to acquire works of our talented exhibitors.

At the opening of the exhibition, Minister Nelson Antônio Oliveira, Director of the Department of Central America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil highlighted the diversity and richness of the art of Haiti in his speech "who does not know Haiti will have a small screen of a wonderful reality that is in this country."
