Haiti - Social : Commemoration of Flag Day in Chicago

The Consul General of Haiti in Chicago, Lesly Conde makes a point to remind to the compatriots throughout the Midwest, that Saturday, May 18, 2013 brings the 210th anniversary of the creation of the Haitian flag.

On this occasion, the Consular Mission joins the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti and other Haitian community organizations in Chicago, to invite fellow citizens and friends of Haiti to a recreational meeting, cultural and patriotic, to be held from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm in the premises of "Kizin Creole" located at 2311 W. Howard Street, Chicago. Program: songs, poems, history flag, folklore show, musical entertainment. Snacks and refreshments will be served.

Sunday, May 19, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Consulate General invites the brothers and sisters of the Community, to a solemn Te Deum Mass to be celebrated at 5:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace at 7801 South Jeffery, Chicago. After the religious ceremony will be offered a reception in the basement of the Church. This invitation is open to people of all faiths.

Also as part of the commemoration of the creation of our national bicolor, the Consular Mission will intervene Sunday, April 19 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. on Radio Haiti Internationale (1590 AM or www.1590haiti.com) to treat the subject "May 18, 1803, a significant date in the history of the Haitian Revolution".

The Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago encourages all Haitians and friends of Haiti to come in large numbers pay tribute to the national bicolor, symbol of our brotherhood and our resilience.
