Haiti - Health : The regions of Palmes in the heart of the German Cooperation

Florence D. Guillaume, Minister of Public Health and Population (MSPP), together with Hans Joachim Preuss, the Representative of the German Cooperation in Haiti, in the presence of Ambassador Klaus Schick of the Federal Republic of Germany and his wife, inaugurated last week in Lassalle (Leogane), a new health center, built in the area of Palmes.

In his speech, the Minister stated that the health of the population was a priority for the Government Martelly-Lamothe. The new health center, built with the support of the German Cooperation will enable the people of the region of Palmes, to receive quality health services in the best conditions. The minister Guillaume asked the population to own and protect the health center and thanked, on behalf of the Government and people of Haiti, the German Cooperation for this generous gesture "We will continue to work to provide the public a better tomorrow in terms of Health, enabling all children to be immunized against all vaccine-preventable diseases. And we will ensure that the challenge of Health in Haiti to be raised."

For her part, Ms. Sandra Jules, Mayor of Petit-Goâve, also president of the Community of the Region of Palmes, thanked the MSPP and the German Cooperation for allowing the population of Palmes and surrounding areas to benefit from the Centre Health and reaffirmed her commitment to continue to support the population for the development of the town.

For his part, Mr. Berthold Boes, of the German Cooperation, said that the Palmes region that encompasses four municipalities : Léogane, Grand-Goâve, Petit-Goâve and Gressier, was able to benefit over the last 3 years, of 6 health centers, a fishery and two boats, for a total of 150 million U.S. dollars.
