Haiti - Literature : End of visit for the Quebec Minister of Culture

Monday, as part of the "Québec encounters in Haiti" organized under the chairmanship of Dany Laferrière from 1 to May 8, Maka Kotto, the Quebec Minister of Culture and Communication, accompanied by some members of his Cabinet, visited the Museum of Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH) in presence of his Haitian counterpart Josette Darguste, of Stéphane Malebranche, Director General of the Ministry of Culture, Mrs. Michèle G. Frisch, Director General of the National Pantheon, of Monique Rosann, Director General of the Institute for the Protection of National Heritage (ISPAN), as well as Me Guerdy Lissade, Chief of Staff of the Minister of Culture.

This guided tour of the museum, has allowed the Canadian delegation to discover the history and rich culture of Haiti through the permanent collection and current exhibitions: "Toussaint Louverture and the Haitian National Pantheon" and "Saint Soleil 40 years after".

Upon his return to Quebec, the Minister Kotto, said he was honored by the invitation of the Minister of Culture, Josette Darguste to participate in the "Québec encounters in Haiti" "The numerous meetings I have done in Haiti have been fruitful and full of hope for the future of our bilateral relations. They also allowed me to see that Quebec aroused genuine interest among publishers, creators and Haitian readers. The cultural ties between Quebec and Haiti were fed, over time, of various exchanges as well as the implementation of major cooperation projects between our two communities. The choice of Haiti as the guest of honor at the next Book Fair in Montreal and these meetings are beautiful examples."

"Haiti is a priority partner for Quebec. The mission of the Minister Kotto, reflects our commitment to deepen our close relationship with Haiti in terms of culture, solidarity and economy," added Jean-François Lisée, the Minister of International Relations of the Francophonie and Foreign Trade.
