Haiti - Social : The President Martelly paid tribute to Mimi Barthélémy

The President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, learned with great sadness the disappearance of the storyteller Mimi Barthélémy occurred in France, Saturday, April 27, following a cardiac arrest on the eve of its 74 years.

On behalf of the Haitian people, the Head of State paid tribute to this great woman of the stage and took the opportunity to present its sincere condolences to her family, her friends and family, and to the Haitian cultural world in general "The departure of Mimi Barthélémy will certainly leave an important gap in the Haitian theater community. I want here to express the gratitude of the Republic before trhe greatest contribution of this lady of culture which proudly represented Haiti through the stage of several countries," declared the President of the Republic on this sad occasion.

Born May 3, 1939 in Port-au-Prince, Barthélémy did his graduate studies in France and then lived abroad. Back in France, she has doctoral studies in theater and cinema. Storyteller, actress, writer and director, Mimi Barthélémy has played in many venues, festivals and book fairs in France, Haiti and around the world [South America, Sri Lanka, Magrheb and even Honduras]. In 2000, she received the rank of Knight of the National Order of Merit and in 2001 that of fficer of the Order of Arts and Letters. Author of many books including : "La reine des poissons" (Becker d’or - 1989), "La dernière lettre de l’Amiral" (Prix Arletty de la langue française - 1992), "Tézin le poisson d’eau douce" (1994), "Contes diaboliques d’Haïti" (1995), "Haïti, la perle nue" (1999), "Gwodada le monstre" (2004), "Le lion qui avait mauvaise haleine" (2006), "Crapaud et la clef des eaux" (2007) "Contes d’Haïti" (2011)...
