Haiti - Economy : A mission from the diaspora of New York, in Mexico

The Ambassador of Haiti to Mexico, Guy Lamothe, accompanied by a mission of the Haitian diaspora of New York composed of Fritz Clairvil Director of Simact and Marie Josée Montrose of the Haitian Hometown Associations, who wished to inform of the program 3 for 1 applied by the Mexican government, in order to encourage some productive community investment and productive of the diaspora and benefit from the Mexican experience. This initiative was carried out with the support of the "Colegio de Mexico" and the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA).

Under the terms of this program, the Mexican government makes a contribution of three dollars for every dollar invested by the Diaspora in a social of social, community or productive nature. This program already experienced in the state of Zacatecas, is organized as follows : for each dollar from the diaspora, the Government provides a dollar, Zacatecas State another dollar and the municipality of the city does the same.

Fritz Clairvil and Marie Josée Montrose had discussions with among other Miguel Alonso Reyes, the State governor, Jose Maria Gonzalez Nava, the Minister of Social Development, Moises Ornelas Aquayo, the mayor of the city of Nochistlan and Jimenez Munoz, Director of the civil association Efrain.

Representatives of the diaspora, intend to promote a similar project with other organizations working in the United States before submitting it to the elected Haitian and to the Executive. The Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) due to the week's activities of the diaspora, could not answer at the invitation of the organizers of the mission of Zacatecas. For his part, the Governor of the State of Zacatecas has pledged his full support and h cooperation in order to share with Haiti, the experience of the state he leads.

For his part, Ambassador Guy Lamothe, initiated steps to institutionalize the relationship between Haiti and Zacatecas, to enable the country to benefit from the experience of the Mexican state in the development of relations between the government and the diaspora.
