The President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, sends his warmest congratulations to the new Pope Francis, for his election to the head of the Catholic Church.

At the moment, for the 266th Pope of the history to assume his new duties the Head of State formulates him his wishes for success. The President Martelly, on behalf of the Government and of people of Haiti, reaffirming his commitment to maintain and strengthen the cordial relations which have always characterized the Republic of Haiti and the Vatican City.

The President of the Republic firmly believes that the entry into office of Pope Francis will allow to strengthen ties of cooperation between Haiti and the Vatican.
