Haiti - Social : Hugo Chavez, a Haitian delegation will go to Caracas...

Today at a press conference at the National Palace, the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, has officially announced three days of national mourning from Wednesday March 6, to salute the departure of President Hugo Chavez, who died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 58, following a cancer long supported, in addition on this occasion a minute's silence was observed symbolically by the Head of State.

"President Chavez was a great friend of Haiti. More than a friend, he was a brother for us. He not only wanted to help, but also protect Haiti," reminded the President Martelly in the presence of Haitian officials and the Ambassador of Venezuela to Haiti, Mr. Pedro Antonio Canino Gonzales. "It is with great respect that I bow before the mortal remains of this great man," added the Head of State, with sadness.

A Haitian delegation will go to Caracas...

The President of the Republic, the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe Salvador, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Pierre Richard Casimir, will attend the funeral of President Hugo Chavez that will be sung in Caracas, Friday, March 8.

Shortly after the news of the death of President Chavez, the Head of State paid him a vibrant tribute noting that he never missed an opportunity to express his solidarity with the Haitian people in their most difficult situations. Through the Petro Caribe, various sustainable development projects have started and others executed in Haiti. "Hundreds of projects are being implemented in the country with Venezuelan cooperation," noted the President Martelly.

For his part, the Head of Government, Mr. Laurent Lamothe declared "With the disappearance of Hugo Chavez, the world has lost a great man."

In solidarity sign...

In solidarity sign with the Government and people of Venezuela and of respect to President Chavez, it is asked to the Haitian media to broadcast music for the occasion, the national flag will be at half mast as well. Different faiths are invited to adopt a attitude funeral Friday at ten o'clock in the morning as a gesture of sympathy to the Government and people of the Comandante.
