Haiti - Social : Balance of National Carnival Committee 2013

The National Carnival Committee (CCN) welcomed the success of the carnival festivities, 10, 11 and 12 February 2013, made this year in Cap-Haitien, cradle of the history and culture of Haiti.

"This major cultural event was made possible thanks to the support of the population Capoise and partners in particular, who have made huge sacrifices to provide a spectacle rich in color and in artistic expression. This could allow the production of a good carnival at the height of the ideal christophien. Imagination, creativity, hospitality and the discipline of population Capoise have allowed to have a carnival without casualties. This makes the carnival, one of the major tourist activities for the recovery of the national economy.

The realization of this event would not be possible without the synergy of different constituted authorities ; so the CCN thank the Northern Regional Committee, including the Delegation of the North, the City of Cap-Haitien, the Mayor of Milot, the Departmental Directorate of National Police, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the North, the various departmental directorates of ministries.

The National Carnival Committee (CCN) wishes to apologize to some bands that were unable to complete the course due to technical difficulties, including Mass Konpa, Barikad Crew, Boukman Eksperyans, Zatrap, Kreyol La, Jackito etc..."

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH) extended its thanks to all its employees and collaborators, to the Carnival Committee and government, the population Capoise, workers and others, and in particular the Technical Department of the company that has mobilized day and night in order to significantly increase street lighting and power of the route for the full success of the national carnival.

The EDH took the opportunity to apologize for the power outage recorded for 10-15 minutes each evening during the 3 fat days. However, contrary to what has been said in the media, these mini-blackouts were the desired outcome of a security system installed to record the slightest interruption in the grid. Pole broken, a broken cable, a transformer on the ground or even a tree branch, caused a small cut automatically to prevent a deathtouch, between the wires and the thousands of festival goers, who were overwhelmingly the streets of Cap.
