Haiti - Humanitarian : Over $34 million for new projects in Haiti

A delegation of the Southern Command of the Armed Forces of the United States (SOUTHCOM) paid a visit this week to Bernice Fidélia, the new Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE).

The objective of this meeting was to strengthen the program of humanitarian assistance, "Humanitarian Assistance Program" (HAP), established in Haiti since 2004, thanks to the efforts of several regional associations of the diaspora such as : "Haitian Ressource Development Foundation" headed by Dr. Aldy Castor and "Motion" (Mole St Nicolas in Action) whose Mrs. Josephine Elizée is the Vice-President.

Roland Laforest, Officer-military of liaison to the American Embassy, ​​listed the various humanitarian projects, whose will benefit : Fort Liberté, Cap Haïtien, Port de Paix, Gonaïves, Hinche, Jérémie, Jacmel, Miragoâne, Les Cayes, Mandrin, Pont Gaudin, Desdunes, Torbeck, Chateau and Abricot for a total cost of more than U.S. $ 34 million (34,246,507). These are : 10 emergency operations centers, 10 depots, 14 fire stations, 8 community centers, 8 artesian wells and 6 clinics.

The Minister Fidélia, congratulated the efforts of the leaders of the HAP to improve the living conditions of the Haitian people and reiterated the commitment of his ministry and that of the Government Martelly-Lamothe to work with the Southcom / HAP for the continuous monitoring of their projects.
