In the City Christophienne all are busyto put the finishing touches to be ready tomorrow Sunday for the start of carnival festivities, which will take place in Cap Haitien, the 10, 11 and 12 February 2013. Many visitors have started to invade the city where we expect nearly a million visitors. Nothing is left to chance, assured the organizers "The costumes are ready, the floats and stands are in the finishing phase, there is currently of simulation sessions for different representations." For her part, Josette Darguste, the Minister of Culture says optimistic that "everything is ready."

Everything is in place for the reception, accommodation and accompaniment of visitors, confirmed Stéphanie Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, recalling that the tourist attractions have been arranged, that 7 welcome kiosks placed at the entrance of the city are available for visitors to inform and guide them and that signs have been installed to help visitors to go to the tourist attractions. The Minister Villedrouin affirmed that the rehabilitation of the historic National Park, will be completed by Sunday.

In terms of health, the First Lady Sophia Martelly, like last year, has set up a medical stand on the parade route, all medical equipment is already on site and the Office of Workers' Compensation Insurance , Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) will put doctors available to the stand. Ambulances will be positioned on all axes leading to Cap-Haitien.

2.000 police officers from different units of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) will be deployed in Cap Haitien and the surrounding areas. More than 500 officers from different units will be divided in groups of 40, in the 13 areas of the parade route to ensure and guarantee the safety of attendees. In addition, motorized patrols, will ensure the continued safety of the population outside the perimeter of the carnival.

Two teams, whose the SWAT, will be available on the Port and Coastguard will patrol in the harbor of Cap-Haitien. The Directorate of Traffic Police maintain high vigilance on the road of Cap in order to enforce the speed limit. 345 young brigadiers specially trained for the Carnival, by the Departmental Directorate Northern of the civil protection will be deployed on the road to assist the police in road safety.

"We are ready," stated Commissioner Peter Kesnel, Departmental Director Northern of the PNH "The security plan is running, all arrangements are made. We will be everywhere on the course and in the surrounding towns."
