Haiti - Justice : The FBH elected a new representative to the CSPJ

Thursday, the Federation of Bar of Haiti (FBH) during the General Assembly, which was held at the Hotel Le Plaza, elected by 8 votes, Jacques Letang as the new Representative of the FBH to the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSJP), replacing Me Néhémy. Two other candidates, in this election, obtained 5 and 4 voices, they are respectively Me Chesnel Pierre (Gonaïves) and Me Joseph Jacky Pierre (Croix-des-Bouquets).

Me Carlos Hercules, the President of the FBH, stated that the minutes of the vote, will be sent Friday to Jean Renel Sanon Friday, the Minister of Justice which should proceed in accordance with Article 38 of the CSPJ, to the certification of Me Letang then be sent to President Martelly. In case of failure of the certification, it is the second that will replace him and eventually the third elected stated Me Hercule, who stressed that the resolution passed by a majority of 5 members requesting the maintains of Me Néhémy Joseph in his position of representative of the FBH, does not commit the Federation "the Federation of Bar of Haiti is a completely independent corporation. Moreover, in a letter dated 5 February 2013 addressed to President Martelly, Me Anel Alexis Joseph, the President of CSPJ, which is not signatory of this resolution with which he disagrees, asked the Head of State to decide in the case of Me Joseph Néhémy. In his correspondence, he reminded the President Martelly, that Articles 136 and 138 of the Constitution, require him to ensure the proper functioning of public institutions and to ensure the independence of the country...
