Haiti - Politic : Launch of the new EU programs in support to Civil Society

As part of its program of support to non-state actors and local authorities (NSA-LA), the Delegation of the European Union in Haiti proceeded this Thursday at official launch of new programs of support to the initiatives of the civil society and of local communities, in the presence of Mr. Jeroen Witkamp, Head of Section economy and governance, of the delegation of European Union (EU) in Haiti.

These new programs of support, which will be implemented in various departments of the country including West, the Central Plateau and the North, will support the action in the field of non-state actors and local authorities, relating to the strengthening of local governance and decentralization, which are important focus of cooperation with Haiti.

Specifically, these projects aim to improve the living conditions of populations having a poor access to public services, to strengthen the capacity of civil society and facilitate interactions between civil society and local authorities.

These projects are part of the program Non-State Actors and Local Authorities (NSA-LA) funded to the tune of 4.8 million euros by the Delegation of the European Union, in the framework of the 10th European Development Fund. The Republic of Haiti is in the 5th position of countries benefiting from the annual allocation NSA-LA.
