The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe will proceed officially on Friday 1 February 2013, at the laying of the first stone of the international airport of Les Cayes. Estimated at $26.6 million, the work will be performed by the Dominican firm Estrella, over a period of 2 years.

The ceremony, which will take place at the airport Antoine Simon of Les Cayes, is part of efforts made by the Government to build new infrastructure in the Southern Department and to establish at the same time, a set of conditions for tourism, which is one of the promising sectors, able to create thousands of jobs in the region.

In addition, all measures have been taken, so that soon be launched, the construction of another international airport in the île à vache within the framework of the development project of adjacent islands.
