Haiti - Sports : Multi-sports field in Côtes-de-Fer

Friday, René Jean Roosevelt Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC), which lost its portfolio of Minister Tuesday, at the last reshuffle in favor of Ms. Magalie Racine, laid the first stone of the construction of a multi-sports field [Basketball, Volleyball and Handball] to Côtes-de-Fer in the presence of several authorities and elected of Côtes-de-Fer, whose the Deputy Lesly Guirand, the Mayor Widner Losier, the Deputy Delegate Joseph Pongnon. Work which will last 2 months will be conducted by the firm UNICOSA and will include :

  • A podium of 90 m2 for socio-cultural activities ;

  • Locker rooms of 100 m2 ;

  • Bleachers for 600 spectators ;

  • A playing surface of concrete 15 cm thick ;

  • A recreation area equipped for children ;

  • A wire fence 2 m high.

With the construction of this new field, MJSAC continued the implementation throughout the territory of a network, of infrastructure social-sports adapted for the development of sporting activities and the physical, mental and spiritual development of youth.

In less than a year, 5 new sports centers were built and about twenty others are under construction. Exploratory visits are regularly conducted to expand the network across all municipalities in the country for the benefit of youth.
