Haiti - Politic : Resolution of Opposition Parties
Following the meeting of January 5, 2013 in Arcahaie, which brought together 70 leaders of political parties of the opposition and of the Civil Society where participated among others : Mirlande Manigat of the Rally of Progressive National Democrats (RDNP), Pierre Esperance, director of the National Network for the Defence of Human Rights (RNDDH), Saurel Jacinthe of INITE, the Senator Moïse Jean-Charles... Meeting, suspended because of the vioent intervention of individuals, presumed to be government supporters, according to the statements of some participants https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7571-haiti-politic-democracy-mistreated-in-arcahaie.html , met again last Saturday in Léogâne, and voted a resolution that we leave you the care to judge.

"Three months after having formulated in the manifesto of Cap-Haïtien, 14 reproaches and 8 requirements to the power in place, nothing was done to stop the abuses and correctthe grave faults committed. On the contrary! The situation has worsened. For example, on 16 December, citizens peacefully demonstrating in Port-au-Prince, have been arrested and are still languishing in prisons. January 5, 2013 in Arcahaie a peaceful meeting of the Opposition was brutally interrupted by of supporters of government in place.
Faced with this situation, us, political parties, groups and organizations of civil society gathered in Léogâne, on 19 January 2013, we agreed to :
Reaffirm the conclusions obtained in Arcahaie January 5, 2013, on the achievements and errors recorded during the democratic transition, errors that we committed to not repeat ;
Remain united, to continue to support the Haitian people in their just and legitimate claims, to work together toget the country out of the quagmire and relaunch definitively and resolutely the democratic project ;
Affirm the necessity to keep in mind the analysis made of the situation, as well as the commitments made in the Manifesto of Cap-Haitien ;
Found that power is laying the foundation for the restoration of dictatorship ;
Found that the power dangerous threat the democratic achievements of the Haitian people ;
Adopt a Solidarity Pact ;
Fix the values, that should guide us in building a new democratic and modern State ;
Establish a STEERING COMMITTEE, build opposition informed, constructive and active ;
Recognize to the Haitian people, the right to require sovereignly, peacefully the anticipated end of mandate of 5 years entrusted to any president who deviates from the rules of the democratic game ;
Commit us fully in a advocacy work in order to thwart the project undemocratic of power in place ;
Extend the work begun in the 10 Departments of the country.
