Haiti - Social : «Sustained commitment on the path of the security...»

Wednesday, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, officially opened the exhibition on national seismic risk reduction in Haiti, on the theme : "Sustained commitment on the path of the security..."

The exhibition organized under the direction of SNGRD gathers on 4 stands, all the mechanisms of the implementation of interventions, as part of the policy established by the Government [1 - Monitoring, Threat Assessment, 2 - Education, training and awareness; 3 - Reduction of risk factors; 4 - Preparedness and Response.]

In his intervention, the Head of State praised the efforts of Haitian institutions and their cooperation, with the various partners, in the development of response capacity of the Haitian society "Thanks to this fruitful cooperation, a technical unit of seismology was installed to the Bureau of Mines and Energy, a building code was published and several curricula implemented, in institutions both classical and professionals, to strengthen the capacity of the State to coordinate the response [...]"

The Prime Minister has signed the Roadmap for risk reduction in Haiti. This roadmap, which serves as a guide to government action, provides a set of concrete multi-sectoral activities, to secure in a sustainable way and gradually the Haitian population.

Moreover, this same Wednesday, the Office of the Minister Delegate for Human Rights and the fight against Extreme Poverty, Marie Carmelle Rose Anne Auguste, encouraged the participation of 10 painters of Kalfou Richès Peyi dAyiti [Islande Henry, Lourdny Pierre Paul, Patrick Lafontant, Walgens Pierre Jean de Folie Ouverte, Jean Frédéric, Dominique Joseph of the Workshop GUAA, Lorvens Lovens, Rul'expert of the workshop l'aurore of Cité Soleil, Widmayer Saint Paul of Fort National and Jacobson Joseph of Grandes Ravines] to express in the day, in their own way, the Haiti anti seismic, through the creation of a large mural, whose the quality and creativity have amazed the population, at the end of the day.
