Haiti - Training : 692.000 Euros from Caritas Spain for vocational training

Caritas Spain has allocated 692.000 euros, to a project to strengthen the system of vocational training for young people, an initiative that will benefit nearly 2,800 students at risk of social exclusion. This new program, which is in its first phase will take place in the network of 9 vocational training centers run by the five Salesian departments of Haiti, with the support of the Ministry of Education and will have a duration of four years.

This action, is added to others, implemented by Caritas Spain in Haiti. Thus, in 2012, the organization has provided support to a program to reduce cholera. This project, of 04.000 euros, directly aimed at improving the health of 6,500 people in 36 poor communities in four provinces of the Dominican-Haitian border. The second phase of this program is already running, by Caritas Haiti and the Dominican Caritas, since last month and includes the improvement of the water and sanitation systems and the training of community health technicians, in the most remote areas of the Diocese of Barahona and Jacmel.
