Haiti - Culture : The exhibition «Kalfou Richès Peyi Dayiti» an unmissable event

Continuing the implementation of the government strategy to fight against extreme poverty, the Office of the Minister Delegate in Charge of Human Rights and the Fight against Extreme Poverty undertaken during holiday season to steer the organization of an exhibition of paintings by artists from disadvantaged segments of Port-au-Prince, Jérémie, des Gonaïves and of Cap Haitien, during the period from 22 December 2012 to 31 December 2013.

This exhibition named "Kalfou Richès Peyi Dayiti", is made in the context of combating extreme poverty in the precarious neighborhoods of the cities targeted bringing the painters who live there, to showcase their talents and creativity, as sources of wealth, to access to the income generated by the practice of their art and reach to make known to the public.

The organization of this event is based on an approach to the fight against poverty focuses on the research and development of otential factors of wealth creation among people who are poor, to lead them to a gradual improvement in their lives, from their own resources released from their productive activities in an incentive framework laid out by the state. The experimentation of this approach in the case of the artists whose works will be exhibited, by mobilizing energy solidarity of the whole society, to create a dynamic of profitability on a sustainable basis of pictorial production.

The Office of the Minister Delegate in Charge of Human Rights and Extreme Poverty plans to take advantage of this initiative to continue the supervision of these painters and promote such events held periodically in order to achieve in the near future, a large International Fair, unmissable event of lovers of painting.

The exhibition will feature 165 artists [more than 200 paintings] and will give rise to different launching ceremonies :

Saturday, December 22, in Port-au-Prince, at 4:00 in the afternoon, in the area of ​​the Champ de Mars;

Sunday, December 23, Cap Haitien, at 10:00 am;

Wednesday, January 2, 2013, to Jérémie at 10:00 am;

Sunday, December 30, Gonaives, at 10:00 am.

Specific objectives :

  • Promote the emergence at the end of the exhibition : "Kalfou Richès Peyi dAyiti," of :

  • 60 painters from at least 6 precarious neighborhoods of the metropolitan area, namely, Grand Ravine, Fort Mercredi, Caridad, Village de Dieu, Cité Soleil, Bel Air, Fort National, Mariani

  • 40 artists of Gonaïves

  • 40 artists of Cap Haïtien and of Milot

  • 25 artists of Jérémie

  • Allow 10 groups of painters at least to emerge through poor neighborhoods, to facilitate their accompaniment sustainable in a perspective of the fight against extreme poverty.

All sectors of society are encouraged to support the exhibiting artists, by visiting the sites of exposure, to buy one or more of their works in the context of the year-end holidays under the sign of love, sharing and solidarity.

Ministries of Culture and of Tourism and the City of Port-au-Prince will also organize cultural activities at Champs de Mars during the same period.
