Haiti - Literature : Alix Renaud, Quebecers of Haitian origin, receives the Prize «Personality literary»

As part of Award of Excellence for Arts and Culture, the Canadian Institute of Quebec, has awarded its Prize "Personality literary, to the writer, poet, linguist and journalist Alix Renaud [Winner of the 2007 Prix Charles Biddle] for his commitment and contribution in the literary world for over 40 years.

Alix Renaud, provides for several years an exemplary contribution to the Quebec society on the literary and linguistic plan. This prolific author has explored virtually all aspects of language and writing, as shown the impressive variety of his work. The jury highlighted his dynamic presence and engaged in the literary circles of Quebec. Indeed, Alix Renaud is appreciated by all and well known for his commitment to literature, whether as a writer, journalist, mediator, speaker, mentor or animator of literary activities, including the Literary Circle Gabriel García-Márquez. Besides his literary activities, he worked as terminologists and contributed to several specialized publications, to texts of vulgarization technical or scientific and to the francization of terms in several fields.

The prize of the Canadian Institute of Quebec aims to honor a personality, who work so exceptional in the region of Quebec, for at least ten years in the field of the literary creation, publishing, mediation, teaching, research, production, criticism or the promotion of writing as means of expression of human thought, of new ideas and of the creativity in our society. This Prize is awarded to a person still active in the community in order to support and promote his initiatives.

Alix Renaud was born in Port-au-Prince on 30 August 1945. He studied in Haiti [Collège Georges Marc, Collège CLovis Bonhomme] until bachelor level. In 1984, he made ​​the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art and won first prize ex-aequo. It migrates in Quebec in 1968 and will continue at Laval University a Masters in letters and language, and then in terminology. Alix Renaud also teaches Haitian Creole at Garneau College [1987-1989] and during the winter of 1996, then at Centre for Studies and International Cooperation, Office of Quebec [1989-1990 and 1997]. He is also the author of Learning Manuals for the use of Creole for French [Pale kreyòl 1993 - Tande kreyòl la byen 1998].
