Haiti - Social : 50% discount on the stay rate, for illegal Haitian students...

At a seminar on the voluntary return of illegal immigrants from Haiti, which was held in the Dominican Republic last week, José Ricardo Taveras, the Director of the Dominican immigration, announced facilities for Haitian students living illegally in Dominican territory, wishing to travel to Haiti during the holiday season.

Recalling that "more than 12,000 Haitian students living illegally in the Dominican Republic", the Director of the Dominican immigration, announced that the latter will only pay 50% of the stay rate, so that they can to their country, from 1 December 2012 to 10 January 2013 and they will able to subsequently return to the Dominican Republic.

José Ricardo Taveras, appealed to Haitian students, so they submit their documents to his institution, to regularize their situation in the country and not have to pay anything when they go to Haiti.

The Deputy Jean Tholbert Alexis, President of the Haitian Mission, present at the seminar, thanked his fellow Dominicans and the Director of Immigration for the treatment to his compatriots students and is committed so that the latter egularize their situation, calling the Haitian students, to respect the laws of the Dominican Republic.

During the seminar, the participants learned about the program and the process of voluntary return of illegal immigrants coming from Haiti, of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This program aims to help Haitian nationals who voluntarily manifest their intention to return to their homeland, to return in the Haitian society and achieve productive activities for their livelihood.

Also, remember that during a meeting of President Martelly with the Dominican President Danilo Medina, in the XXII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Spain, the Dominican President pledged to cancel the illegal payments required for these students to cross the border, despite their visa.
