Haiti - Economy : 50 young women trained in small business management

50 young women self-entrepreneurs in the handicraft production, in Martissant and Cité Soleil, selected on the basis of simple criteria : having a profitable business and and innovative and already have a business plan, are currently undergoing training in small business management, the first step in a long-term support to the development of their activities.

Funded to the tune of 200,000 U.S. dollars by Section Community Violence Reduction (CVR) of the Minustah, this project, realized in partnership with the State University of Haiti and the Ministry of Social Affairs, has for objective of increase of 30% the turnover of each participant and double the number of their employees after one year of operations, according Bertho Bonhomme, Programme Officer at West Regional Office of the RVC.

Each young woman, will receive an initial payment of U.S. $ 500, while a second payment of the same amount will be placed in a cooperative of micro-credit. She will receive a third amount of $500 at the time of installation of their future business. In addition, they will receive logistical support for the acquisition or the production of small furniture and raw materials needed to manufacture the products they commercialize.
